A few November updates in Otter space!
We've been open just over a month now and are continuing to get settled in and make progress!
Bookshop news
One of the newest - and most exciting update - we are now selling books! We really miss having a bookshop in Skerries, and we have the "space" here for it, plus a librarian on staff. There is no better combination than games, books, and excellent coffee!
We love imagination, creativity, socialising, and adventure, and both books and games are a good way to do that. Both are things we are very passionate about here.

New hours
After a month in business, we also decided to close on Tuesdays and open on Sundays instead. We love seeing people in on the weekends, and also love being able to offer more activities for people on Saturdays & Sundays.

Memberships
Memberships have also been top of our list, and we have had many requests for them. We have the details sorted out, and now need to sort the logistical side of things, so keep an eye out for an announcement soon! It may involve unlimited board game play, and event discounts.

Facilities improvements
The lift is still being repaired, so accessibility is limited to the stairs for the time being. We understand how awful it is (we had to bring a coffee machine of pure, dead weight up those stairs!), and hopefully we will have updates for you soon. We are hoping to do parent/toddler meetups and more once the lift is working - we really can't wait.
A baby changing table has now been purchased too, and will be installed hopefully within the next week.
The noise when the shop is busy has also been an issue. We recently bought sound panels and will install them this weekend, and hopefully that will help. We have ear plugs coming in the next few days too, to help mute the sound, or just in general if anyone needs them, and they will be available to people free of charge.
If there's anything else we can do to make your visit more comfortable, please let us know :)

Children's events
We have been attempting to obtain garda vetting for staff for a good while now, and the process has been quite slow. We are finally able to proceed to the next steps, and when the process is complete, we can start facilitating events for children. Realistically it may be another month or two by the time we can start, and we feel really terrible for the delays- they have been beyond our control.
That being said, children are of course still welcome in the shop to play board games, participate in family events, make purchases, etc. When we are able to facilitate events, think D&D, after school board game clubs, summer camps, mid-term camps, etc. We can't wait to offer that for you! We really appreciate your patience while we get up and running.

New weekly events
We now have Warhammer every Saturday at 1pm, and we are starting chess and Pokémon casual play. We hold TCG events most days, and we also have a weekly boardgame meetup and neurodivergent meetup. All events can be found here.
We love suggestions too, so if there is anything you'd like us to run let us know and we'll see if we can accommodate it.
